Who is the Best Axe Woman of All Time
While many men gain the spotlight, a lot of women have shredded their way into it. This article is going to focus on the best technical and most creative of these players. This is not a simple decision. It’s easy to go with the popular names like Nacy Wilson, or The Great Kat (Who played really sloppy music, and screamed at everyone how she was the greatest of all time.)
The obvious popular choice right now is Orianthi. Her track with Steve Vai was awesome, she was booked on Michael Jackson’s last tour, and she’s the only one who is current. Her vibrato, and phrasing are amazing, but on a technical level she has to fall short to Stream Of Passion’s guitarist Lori Linstruth, who’s phrasing, economy and sweep picking mastery, places her out of the crowd.
Jennifer Batten is the Jimi Hendrix of all female rock guitarists, and gets the win. She is a legend, and has played with so many iconic musicians. She has all the technical strengths, with a creative edge. She is the quintessential female guitar shredder. Some honorable mentions go to Eita from the Jrock band Seven Seas, and Kaki King, who is insanely creative.
